Browsing for new music, I came across this remake of Aha’s “Take On Me” by Brazilian producers, The Twelve. Being the 80’s kid I am, this immediately brought back memories of me sitting in front of the TV watching MTV for hours on end. I was truly waiting for any Michael Jackson video, but every now and again, they would play AHA’s video and I would marvel at how they made the people into a comic book. Last year, Zo! and Tigallo (Producer Zo! and Grammy Nominated vocalist Phonte) teamed up for their Epic (as in DOPE as HELL) EP, “Zo! & Tigallo loves the 80’s”. Audio Junk Food is my new category dedicated to cheesy pop music. Ya’ll might not know, but I love POP music. This is not to say that I’m not a true hip hop head, or love me some R&B, but sometimes nothing is as fun as a gold old danceable cheesy pop tune. And lately, I’ve had an affinity for Mash-ups (taking something old, mixing it with something new, creating a fresh sound.) Pop kids call them mash-ups, hip hop heads call them blends. Anyway, if you notice on my home page, I put up a hype machine widget. This thing keeps my playlist stocked with the freshest pop, dance, mash-ups…good music you may not hear on your local radio station. I’m looking to get out of my musical comfort zone this year. You may as well come along for the ride.
This particular mash-up takes Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” and mixes it with “Throw Some D’s”. I’m feelin the bounciness of the track and especially love the Luda cameo. Check this track out and let me know what you think…
