Fitness Friday Vol 2.

I’m still on my grind. 5 days completed at the gym this week. I’m down another 4lbs. I’ve added weight training with the machines to my workout, thanks to my mentor Kevin Black. I’m doing well with eating 4 – 5 meals at around 400 calories each day and drinking water. Tuesday is the hardest gym day and Thursday seems to be the hardest day to avoid bad food. Even with the pizza party I had in my class, I still managed the weight loss. My clothes are fitting better and the size of my arms and belly is decreasing. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m proud of myself for the discipline, dedication, and follow through. I bought a jump rope and blender for this week, and I start teaching a swimming class every Wednesday. The more active I can be, the easier this will be. Kevin warned me not to get burned out. I think that’s what happened to me last time. I lost the weight, but I got burned out on exercising and the lack of meal choices. So, this go round, I’m focusing on making healthier choices as a lifestyle change. I realize that this has to become a part of my daily life. My Key Phrase for this week was “DO THE WORK”.

Fitness Friday Vol 1.

Welp, as you might have guessed from my updates, I’m on my jack la lane lately, trying to get fit before 40. Here are a few things that I’ve learned about fitness as it pertains to me:

1. Getting fit is like getting a college degree. You must DO THE WORK to get the results.
2. Attitude is 40% of working out. If you go in looking to quit you will.
3. Take each day one at a time. Having a lofty goal is cool, but my goal was just to get to the gym everyday and get through the workout.
4. Bad food choices are everywhere, you have to create good food choices yourself by planning each week.
5. Once your friends and family see that you’re serious, they will help you achieve your goals.
6. Don’t wait for anyone to workout. Do you and hope they join you.
7. Everything you do is a choice, from choosing a piece of pizza to choosing to skip a rep of exercise. Good choices lead to the promise land. My goal is to make increasingly better choices over time.
8. Fitness isn’t about money. Attitude X Work X Time = Weight Loss
9. I appreciate the discipline I received from my parents, JROTC, and Sigma Gamma Rho.
10. Show up, Shut up and Sweat. Hey, I might make that a T-shirt
