Graphiti Is Art

I was browsing around and came across this great video on Graphiti Culture in LA, and how graphiti artists have moved on to the established art world. I think this will be a great video for our art and fashion classes. It will be great to show the kids how their dreams can pay off.

Workout Diary: Day 3

Happy New Year!

DSC_0419

Straight up, 2009 was a very hard year…From the recession & new business challenges to the death of one of my idols, ‘09 was full of twists and turns. God made me resilient enough to get through bloody but unbowed. I’m now ready to put the past behind me in more ways than one. Now, instead of a resolution, I want to say thank you to those of you who made this year special…

I want to say thank you to Myisha for being my rock, my love, my best friend, my business partner, my heart…Thank you for believing in me and my ability to achieve. Without you to pick me up on the days I fell low, I wouldn’t have made it. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you. Meet me on 10/10/10 Baby!

I want to say thank you to every client that has allowed me to design their dreams. You have been the foundation of my company, Springcart Design Lab. You have allowed me to realize my dream. Words can’t express just how greatful I am.

I want to say thank you to every client that chose me to spin and provide the soundtrack to their lives. You have allowed me to take my passion for music and spread joy, while living my dream. I’m dedicated to traveling this year. I’m ready for superstardom!

I want to say thank you to my friends and family, who helped me overcome my 2 year long bout with depression with love. Thanks to the Smash Crew for partying with me…Thanks to Courtney, Shannon and Imani for the “White House” parties, which brought me out of my shell and helped to make me social again. Thanks to my Steel Horses Los Angeles and my WCPA MC Family for allowing me to roll these streets with you. I love each and everyone of you!

I’m so full of love this morning! This year will be great! I’m destined for greatness and so are you! Don’t settle, life is short! Here’s to living our dreams and winning in 2010!

Dirty Soul Vol. 9

Over the last couple of months, I’ve really been conscious of my weight. My clothes aren’t fitting like they should, I’m not liking my self in any pictures, I can visibly see the fat in my face…I’m not just fat, I FEEL Obese. Time to get back on my program. Yesterday, I had a talk with my mentor Kevin Black and we discussed exercise. He’s been where I am, so I respect his opinion. He’s evolved into a fitness nut over the last two years, after losing over 200lbs. He motivated me to get back on my exercise grind. Kevin has one thing that I lack when it comes to exercise; Discipline. I’ve got to start somewhere, So, today, I got up this morning, and hit the treadmill. I walked for 25 mins and cleared my mind. During that time, I realized a couple of things. First, My body remembers how to be an athlete. My breathing pattern fell right back into training mode and it wasn’t as hard as I thought. Second, my chronic allergies disappeared. I could breathe! No irritating ear, nose and throat itching! That feeling alone was worth the burn I was feeling in my legs. Third, my knees aren’t as bad off as I thought they were. Ever since I went down on my bike, my knees haven’t been the same, and I’ve been scared to really do any working out. I realize I have to take it easy, but I now know that they can’t be an excuse.

So, here’s to starting from scratch, and building a body I can be proud of again. I don’t want to be skinny, just healthy. I always seem to go through this at the beginning of the winter, but by New Years, I’ve lost the discipline and motivation because I don’t see results as quickly as I would like to. But, like My says, I didn’t get this big in 3 months or even a year, so I should realize that I won’t lose it that quickly. But thanks to shows like the Biggest Loser, I’m looking for quick results. I’ll be chronicling my progress, as an inspiration to myself and others. Let me know your thoughts and your struggles. Off to breakfast…

PT

P.S. My motivation seems to be those who’re telling me what I can not be.
