Good Morning! My dream of creating Black Girls Ride, the first Motorcycle Magazine in celebration of women of color has come to fruition. I’ve already got paid subscribers! I’m so excited! Everyone I’ve spoken with about it not only sees the vision, but have come with ways that they can help enhance the MOVEMENT! This MOVEMENT has so many roads and I’m determine to explore each and every one of them! I’ve got a lot of work to do. Not glamorous work, but a lot of get in the trenches “late night, early mornings”. (Shout out to Marsha Ambrosius‘ new album!) Not only am I not afraid, I welcome the challenge. This is my lane, and I OWN IT!

A huge part of realizing my dream has been surrounding myself with other successful entrepreneurs. I’m up early and getting ready for another fun-filled day at Tory Johnson’s Spark and Hustle conference. Never have I seen such a group of remarkable and driven women, all in one place. The women who run your companies every day are here dreaming big and learning how to build their own brands. The highlight of my day yesterday was pitching my book to actual literary agents on a whim and learning that I need to move forward with my concept.

The third piece of this puzzle is feeling better about myself. I think I may finally be over my depression. I know that’s a hefty statement for a random blog post, but it is what it is. For a while, I was still letting my old success define me. Now it’s time to create my own brand and earn new success. That’s it for now. The first time I saw Nacho Pen perform on stage at Kevin Black’s “U Can Fly” showcase, I knew she was destined for greatness. She has the “it factor”, that on characteristic that sets her high above her peers. Her music is soon to be the new standard of hip hop. Much like Weezy, she’s not from here. She’s better suited among the stars, in another galaxy. Because she not a “badonkadonk” female rapper, she’ll be compared to the female lyricist that came before her. I say, refocus your lens. Don’t compare her to icons, recognize her iconic potential. She’s got the goods…the complete package. But don’t take my word for it…take a listen for yourself…

Straight up, 2009 was a very hard year…From the recession & new business challenges to the death of one of my idols, ’09 was full of twists and turns. God made me resilient enough to get through bloody but unbowed. I’m now ready to put the past behind me in more ways than one. Now, instead of a resolution, I want to say thank you to those of you who made this year special…

I want to say thank you to Myisha for being my rock, my love, my best friend, my business partner, my heart…Thank you for believing in me and my ability to achieve. Without you to pick me up on the days I fell low, I wouldn’t have made it. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you. Meet me on 10/10/10 Baby!
