Fan of a Fan – Chris Brown and Tyga

Just downloaded some new music today…the standout so far is the Fan of a Fan Mixtape from Chris Brown and Tyga. I’ve made it through without the annoying DJ Rockstar and Ill Will Tags (thank God for that). There’s a few joints that will definitely make it into my mix rotation. Nice to hear Chris with his swagger back. On some of the tracks, you can feel his aggression…like he’s fighting to take his career back. I’ve got to give him props. Not many can withstand today’s internet media microscope and keep standing tall. Tyga has a nice little flow. They actually compliment each other well. Take a listen and let me know what you think…

Here’s my personal favorite track so far:

An Open Letter To My Mommy

Dear Mommy,

I came really early in your life, so I know you had to grow up fast. When my father was off chasing rock star dreams, “playing Daddy” at his whim, you were there. You put in the overtime when he thought I was just a part-time job. You wanted better opportunities for me than you had, so you worked hard long hours. I want you to know that I was always watching you Mommy. I always wanted you to know that your sacrifices were not in vain. All those days you went without, so that I didn’t have to, they don’t go unnoticed. Thank you for always making me your top priority.

You have always been there for me. Telling me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear…pushing me to be better than I thought I was. Loving me in your own, sometimes blunt, but always unconditional way. During my teen years, I misunderstood you. I wondered why you set the boundaries you set. In my own young way, I thought I knew better than you. I know now, you just wanted to protect me from the world, and often times from myself. You taught me to take pride in myself, and to treat myself as a treasure. I didn’t realize then how precious I truly was.

I want you to know that your lessons got through. I heard you, even when I didn’t want to listen. As I continue my journey into womanhood, following your template of strength, resilience, and brilliance, I can only hope that I have become a woman you can be proud of.

I Love You Mom,
Porsche
